The Col. James Wood, II Chapter has a large number of veterans among its members and has made support, recognition and honoring of our veterans a huge part of the Chapter's success.

A perennial leader in Stark Award Veterans Points, not only in Virginia but also Nationwide, our members maintain a weekly schedule of visitation and outreach to veterans in our area.

One of our biggest successes is the establishment of a book swap "take one, leave one" library at the Veterans Center in Stephens City Virginia. Evergrowing, with over 1,000 publications and books available to veterans and their families, it touches many people and enhances the quality of life of our veterans. The Chapter is currently in the process of providing book shelves for the burgeoning quantity of books.

We have also developed a close relationship with Hidden Springs Senior Living located south of Front Royal, Virginia. This facility is host to many veterans and chapter members and the chapter maintains a regular visitation schedule. In April of 2016, the chapter participated in the establishment of rehabilitative raised bed gardens at the Veterans Affairs Community Outpatient Clinic in Kernstown, Virginia for the treatment of patients of PTSD groups.
