INAUGURAL PATRIOT'S PRIDE DAY 2017
"Wildly Successful" is how Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh described the first Patriots Pride Day held July 22nd at Veterans Memorial Park in Middletown, Virginia. The day-long patriotic event featured opening ceremonies, a Parade of Color Guards, exhibitors, vendors, World War II vehicles and Continental and British Army encampments and a battle re-enactment with all muskets blazing.
The idea was conceived by the Col. James Wood, II Chapter and welcomed by town officials, who quickly put the town's resources behind the project. The street was lined with American and British flags to welcome the reenactors from both sides and to show visitors and passers-by that something a bit different was happening.
The event received significant media coverage and a television news spot on LocalDMV TV Hagerstown. Local businesses donated services to the event including Northern Virginia Tractor, Clems Garage, Oomps Funeral Service and others.
