Shortly after the Colonel James Wood II Chapter was formed in 2007 a small Chapter Color Guard was started, and it has continued to grow each year and contains over 20 members as of 2024.

The Color Guard is the most visible ambassador of the Sons of the American Revolution and inspires patriotism wherever they go and are seen.

The Chapter’s Guard has been a leader in the country in providing Training to all of its members in all aspects of Safety at Events, Musket Firing, Flag Etiquette, Event Protocols, etc.  It began several years ago hosting Chapter Workshops and now hosts Workshops across the State of Virginia.

Many of the Guardsmen of the Chapter hold the Bronze and Silver Color Guard medals. Two State Color Guard Commanders have been a member of the Chapter and the 2024 National Color Guardsman of the Year is a member of the Chapter.

The Colonel James Wood II Color Guard is available upon request to support the local community for commemorative and educational events.
